Director Liao Baolin was selected as the ambassador of Chinese seahorse conservation.

On November 4, 2017, the first "China seahorse conservation ambassador training camp" was successfully concluded, and 30 diver representatives from across the country gathered in Shenzhen Dapeng Marine Biological Industrial Park to learn to identify the seahorse and explore the "secret" of the seahorse.

The training is divided into two parts, ‘classroom lecture’ and ‘diving practice’ for teaching and assessment. Eight students, including Liao Baolin, director of Shenzhen Institute of Guangdong Ocean University, and Yang Weidi, Teacher of Ocean and Earth College, Xiamen University, with their excellent achievement in the training course and the strong influence of respective regions, were awarded the honorary title of "China Seahorse Conservation Ambassador" by Project Seahorse (UBC), University of British Columbia, Canada. It is reported that the first batch ambassadors will be nominated for the "Seahorse Conservation Ambassador" granted by the gragon fishes expert group of International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) .
